The Health Zone Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (HZ NPLC) is looking for an experienced NP Leader with a passion for the growth and continued development of the NPLC model of care in Ontario. Situated in beautiful London, Ontario, the HZ NPLC was established in 2011 and moved to its modern, bright clinic space in 2022. Dedicated to improving health and well-being, the clinic delivers comprehensive primary care, health promotion, disease prevention, chronic disease management, and care coordination within a multidisciplinary team. The HZ NPLC focuses on serving individuals and families who may have previously lacked access to a primary care provider, ensuring they receive coordinated and continuous healthcare

Functioning within a co-leadership model, the NP Lead will work in partnership with the Administration Lead and will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational running of the clinic in support of equitable clinical outcomes.

As the position is a shared Administrative and Clinical role, the NP Lead is also expected to follow the Job Description of the Nurse Practitioner at HZ NPLC. The clinical portion of the role will be evaluated by the NP team. Flexibility in hours between the two roles will be expected to meet the demands of the two positions.

Reporting to the Board of Directors and holding accountability to Ontario Health, the NP Lead's key accountabilities include: 

Board Relations & StrategicLeadership:

o   Maintain strong relations with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates and reports on clinical operations and the strategic plan

o   Enact strategic leadership to advance the clinic goals

o   Implement the vision, mission, values and strategic plan

Human Resources & Team Leadership:

o   Recruit, select, supervise and evaluate staff (13 FTE,non-unionized)

o   Supervise, mentor, orient, and precept professional employees

o   Conduct performance appraisals

o   Promote strong team development and foster a positive, productive workplace

culture

o   Coordinate regular NP and multidisciplinary team meetings

Policy, Compliance & PolicyManagement:

o   Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures in conjunction with the Board of Directors

o   Oversee quality management initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency

CollaborativePartnerships:

o   Establish and maintain partnerships with community service organizations, agencies, hospitals and educational institutions to support primary healthcare networks and reciprocal referral relationships.

o   Develop collaborative relationships with local NPs, Family Health Teams and Community Health Centres, Middlesex London Ontario Health Team (MLOHT), NPLCA, NPAO, Alliance for Healthy Communities, Ontario Health, and the MOH

Communications & CommunityEngagement:

o   Lead internal and external communications, including social media and outreach efforts

o   Strengthen public, community, and political advocacy efforts

Operations & FiscalAccountability:

o   Oversee effective business operations in collaboration with the Administration Lead

o   Ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability to the Board of Directors and Ontario Health

o   Co-lead financial planning and management for $1.9M budget

o   Ensure compliance with funding agreements

Facilities & ITManagement:

o   Oversee facilities management in conjunction with the Administration Lead for a single lease premise (with the potential to expand)

o   Manage information technology to support clinical and operational efficiency.

Job details

Salary Range: $130,000 - $135,000 a year Job type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, with some evening/extended hours required

  

Qualifications

  •         Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing
  •         Current registration in the extended class in Primary Care and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  •         Current member of the Nurse Practitioner's Association of Ontario (NPAO)
  •         Mandatory Professional Liability Protection and Liability Insurance
  •         Minimum 3-5 years demonstrated effective leadership and management experience in a community, hospital or primary care setting; preference will be given to those with             additional skills in Finance and Human Resources management
  •         Minimum 5 years experience in primary care or an acute care environment in an NP role
  •         Satisfactory criminal reference check, current BCLS, and valid Ontario drivers license
  •         Experience in a variety of clinical environments and knowledge of provincial health policy
  •         Visionary leader who is committed to the principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and ensuring equitable services to patients who may be vulnerable and marginalized
  •         Experience or training in providing culturally safe care for Indigenous patients and communities, and other marginalized populations.
  •         Understanding of trauma-informed principles in patient care and staff leadership.
  •         Strong written and verbal communication skills; additional language proficiency considered an asset
  •         Proven ability to lead organizational change and adapt to evolving healthcare policies and regulations.
  •         Ability to analyze healthcare data to drive evidence-informed decision-making and quality improvement initiatives
  •         Familiar with healthcare regulations, risk mitigation strategies, and accreditation processes.
  •         Experience managing workplace conflicts and fostering a positive, productive team environment.
  •         Demonstrated skill in insight, self-awareness and self-management consistent with high emotional intelligence
  •         Demonstrated political advocacy
  •         Experience with electronic medical records system and Ontario Drug Formulary; experience with Telus PS Suites is an asset
  •         Computer proficiency with Internet, Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Automated Clinical Systems and Virtual meeting platforms
  •         Demonstrated experience in education and program development and eligible for an Adjunct appointment to an academic institution
  •         Proven ability to maintain regular attendance while fulfilling leadership responsibilities in a collaborative team environment.
