As cases of COVID are rising and we are well and truly into the 5th wave, we are asking our patients to make mindful choices this holiday season when it comes to social gatherings. Help keep your friends and families safe this season by limiting social gatherings as much as possible; ensuring those you are visiting indoors are vaccinated, and if possible, ensuring that visits with people who are not in your household are outdoors only; staying home if you feel ill; booking an appointment for your booster shot;  and considering getting rapid tested before a holiday event. Wearing a mask indoors, or when you cannot maintain 2 metres of distance, protects yourself and others, and recommended mask types are N95, KN95,  a well-fitted medical mask, or at the very least, a well fitted 3-layer fabric mask.

Some more key updates include:

New capacity limits are in place: for social gatherings a maximum 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors is allowed; and 50% capacity limits have been placed on many indoor spaces, such as bars, restaurants, and sports facilities.

All those 18 and older are now eligible for a booster dose, and the waiting period between the 2nd and booster dose has been reduce from 6 months to 3 months. If you need a booster shot, call Health Zone today to book your Moderna booster.

Finally, 150 sites across the province have opened to offer rapid testing for asymptomatic individuals. See where you can get tested, here: https://www.ontario.ca/page/pop-up-holiday-schedule-rapid-antigen-tests
